Pitch for Mentorship and Funding: Toilet on Wheels – Startup Solution for Clean Sanitation in Goa and India

Hello

My name is Vishal Palyekar, and I am excited to present a startup idea aimed at addressing a critical and overlooked challenge in Goa and across India—the lack of clean, accessible public toilets. The concept is Toilet on Wheels, a mobile, eco-friendly sanitation solution designed to provide hygienic and convenient toilets wherever needed, especially in tourist hotspots, events, and underserved areas.

Currently, Goa faces a shortage of clean public sanitation facilities, impacting both residents and millions of tourists annually. This startup proposes to create a fleet of mobile toilet units that can be strategically deployed in high-demand locations, with a focus on cleanliness, maintenance, and customer convenience through an integrated technology platform.

Why Start in Goa?
Goa’s heavy tourist influx and vibrant event culture position it as the ideal testing ground to validate this concept. Our goal is to launch in Goa, demonstrating market viability and refining operations before scaling to other Indian cities and regions facing similar sanitation challenges.

What We Need as a Startup
Since this is an early-stage idea, we seek mentorship to guide us through the startup journey, including business registration, regulatory compliance, product development, and go-to-market strategies. We also seek initial funding to prototype and pilot mobile toilet units, create operational workflows, build our technology platform, and initiate community engagement.

Why Support Us?
Beyond business potential, this idea carries significant social impact by improving public hygiene, enhancing tourist satisfaction, and supporting sustainable sanitation solutions in India. With the right guidance and financial backing, we can develop a scalable, needed service that aligns with national cleanliness campaigns and emerging market demands.

Our Vision
To launch a successful sanitation startup in Goa, setting a precedent for clean, mobile, and technology-driven toilets, and eventually expanding across India to revolutionize public sanitation access.

We invite you to partner with us in this promising venture to create healthier, cleaner communities and a valuable business in an essential service sector.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

This solution feels like over-engineering for the problem.

Why is it not possible to have a stationary toilet instead of an on-wheels one?

Is there a cost advantage ? Clearly, no, vehicle cost is much more than the tiny bit of land ( also this is an asset ), and you need a skilled driver to operate, and operationally, it is not as simple as it looks. And these costs finally land in the customer’s pocket just because it is on wheels.

The discoverability aspect - let’s say there is a tourist spot, if the toilet is a permanent structure, then tourists will have better access and information on where the toilet is. If it keeps changing location, I don’t think it serves the purpose.

Events - Let’s say an event is conducted on large grounds without proper infrastructure, but it’s obvious that your setup can’t sustain without others’ support, since the event venue landlords can get one mobile toilet themselves and charge the organisers as they see you start making money.

Underserved Areas - Here, I believe logically, the best solution will be a stationary toilet.
