Why are companies adding 80% water in shampoo and other personal care products when it adds no benefit?

Introducing India’s Shampoo Paste and Body wash Paste based on aloevera instead of water. Water should be saved for drinking we will make shampoo with aloevera.

What do you all think should the industry be concerned about conserving water and giving more business to farmers in dry lands by encouraging them to grow aloe even in worst soils.

Hi @Grgbhawna04

It’s an interesting campaign on saving water.

We see a lot of shampoos today addressing the scalp dryness, infections, hair fall etc. Apart from the commercial reasons for dilution, usually a lot of these shampoos hold the chemical formula that needs dilution to meet the safe usability.

I’m curious how the Aloe Vera shampoo is superior or different keeping aside the water component. Can you shed some light on that?

Hey Shalem,

thanks for your interest in the topic. Removing water from formulations is important also because it does not have all the nutrients which can benefit us, it is just used as a solvent to mix ingrdients. when we replace water with aloe extracts it comes in with all the nutrients , vitamins , minerals, amino acids, polysaccarides and more. it not only increases the efficacy of the product it also settles down on the skin for a long time locking in the moisture and protecting the skin barrier while notoriously evaportates with the body heat, and other factors taking skin moisture away.
Hope this answers the question.

I was hoping you’d give some science backed data
