Bonds do lack good quality data in a single place. Details are scattered across NSE,BSE, NDSL , CDSL , RBI and So On. There are many places this data is scattered.
I was looking to buy bonds few years back and there was no place with useful data like we have screener.in for Stocks.
I ended up buying a listed bond ( traded at Zerodha ) , from a New Online Bond Platform ( May be at some discount, don’t remember exactly).
But it has casued few pain points to me
- I have to report that in Zerodha or else it will be marked as - Not Reconciled ( exact text will be some thing else )
- I have to get Interest Details - actual Payments only from RTA, they are not reported in Console like Dividends
- When I sell CDSL reports that as Zero Cost in AIS , again I have to request modification in AIS Portal
- When its time for Redemption ( Principal Payback) , holdings in Kite drop to Zero - For Same in Equity we get Notifications.
Root cause for all the above problems are lack of Reliable Data for Individuals and for Brokers. But everything is available in open.
To fix this I have created https://bond-detail.onrender.com/ that works like a regular screener, but for bonds. Very minimal. Also planning to create an API for brokers to consume data and integrate it to their operations/workflows . I have pitched to RainMatter Seperately.
I hope this helps everyday investors to screen out bonds like we screen equities using Screener/Tjori etc,. Please have a look and give feedback, anything that would help everyone is welcome - specially starters 21+ .
